Omniage participated in various events during the first ever Proz.com virtual conference on the International Translation Day. It was quite interesting and engaging. The sessions were almost bug-free, although on several occasions we “lost” several speakers luckily at the very end of the Q&A part. It was almost surreal to see that structure- and information-wise this was as good as a “real” conference”. Perhaps the only difference and disadvantage was…guess what… the real contact with fellow translators and colleagues. This holds especially true for the Networking lounge, which was great as a concept, although it emphasised the irreplaceable human-to-human face-to-face contact when networking with others. Having said that, I still think this event served its purpose and tons of invaluable knowledge and know-how was shared with us – the attendees. Omniage would like to thank the organisers and the sponsors for making it happen! We want more!! :))
